Creating a podcast "Listen the Chant from Aladdin and the Genie!"

Hello reader!

    In this task I was assigned to create a podcast which is important to vary activities in the class. Our assignment was like a student made podcast but podcasting has different options like teacher made. We had three options in this task and we chose creating a chant from a story. I really love Aladdin and the Magic Lamp since my childhood. I suggested my partner Hüseyin to create chant about this. He acted as the genie and I was Aleddin. I enjoy songwriting as a hobby. Thus, this experience will be memorable.

    We used Vacoroo to record our voices. This tool gives a direct link to voice recording which I find very beneficial. It is a 1-minute-long voice record and it did not take a lot of time. However, doing this task with a pair was really enjoyable and we shared a great time creating the podcast. This is one of the main reasons why I will definitely use podcasting as post task in my classes. Podcasting is a great way to bond students’ friendship while making them using their productive skills. It was mentioned in our lecture that collaborative activities are the ones that students never forget in their future life. Moreover, students are able to listen themselves in student made podcasts. This is a nice way to make them self-evaluation and self-correction.

     The only disadvantage of it is it looks complicated at first. However, if teachers give instructions and some examples in the class, students can feel relaxed and motivated. In conclusion, I liked this task a lot.
